Mark Griffin assists in the development and administration of all of the SC Office of Rural Health’s federal and state grant programs, contractual agreements, income generating services, recruitment and retention program and other services, including the Rural Hospital Flexibility Program (FLEX) and Small Rural Hospital Improvement Grant Program (SHIP). He is responsible for the supervision of staff and contractors and acts as the information technologies and facilities manager for the SCORH. Mark is also responsible for the implementation of the Rural Health Works IMPLAN health sector economic survey program.
Mark is an active member of the Carolinas Association of Physician Recruiters and the Association of Staff Physician Recruiters. He is a past board member of National Rural Recruitment and Retention Network.
Prior to joining the SC Office of Rural Health, Mark served in the United States Navy for twenty years. In this role, Mark served as the Tugmaster and Division Officer for the port services unit assigned to Submarine Squadron 14, in La Maddalena, Italy and as Division Officer for various ships and boat units throughout his naval career. Mark retired in 1997 from the United States Navy.
Mark Griffin graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelors of Arts degree in history.
