“Subconsciously Speaking” is an interactive webinar focused on raising awareness of unconscious bias. Research shows that implicit biases contribute to disparities in health care by shaping the behaviors of physicians. Unconscious bias, also known as implicit bias, refers to attitudes or stereotypes that are outside our awareness but nonetheless affect our understanding, our interactions, and our decisions.* Disparities in medical treatment can result from implicit biases based upon factors like race/ethnicity, gender, age, or other characteristics.
