This jointly provided program, with the Office of Rural Health and Southeast Addiction Technology Transfer Center, is one of several statewide AHEC programs. The overall goal of SC Rural Communities Opioid Response Program (RCORP) Implementation is to ensure, over a three-year period, that a focus is placed on reducing the morbidity and mortality associated with Substance Use Disorder/ Opioid Use Disorder (SUD/OUD) in all rural SC communities by simultaneously integrating a statewide and local approach to prevention, treatment, and recovery. This session is intended to facilitate a change with regard to the language utilized by medical caregivers by moving from potentially stigmatizing and biased language, indicative of perceptions and biases, to utilization of language consistent with addiction and substance use disorders as a disease in accordance with the American Medical Association definition.
