An Advanced Alternative Payment Model (APM) is one of two pathways physicians can choose to participate in the Quality Payment Program (QPP). Qualifying as an Advanced APM may exempt clinicians from participation in the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) and they may be eligible to receive an incentive payment. It is a payment approach that rewards providers for delivering high-quality and cost-efficient care.
