We are saddened to announce that today (June 28th, 2019) is Melinda Merrell’s last day as the Senior Program Director at the South Carolina Office of Rural Health as she will be transitioning to a new role with the  University of South Carolina Rural and Minority Health Research Center. Melinda has been with SCORH for 9 years and has made a significant impact across our rural communities.

Over the years, Melinda’s work expanded from rural hospitals and emergency medical services to include many different issues impacting our state’s rural health delivery system. She provided strong leadership on many SCORH initiatives including the Rural Health Action Plan, Hospital Transformation Fund, Community Paramedicine, and Blueprint for Health, to name a few.
Over the next few weeks, before starting her new position with The Center, she will be finalizing and defending her dissertation and receiving her Doctor of Philosophy degree in Health Services Policy and Management from the University of South Carolina.

Please join our team in thanking Melinda for her contributions to SCORH and rural South Carolina, and congratulating her on this exciting new opportunity!
