The South Carolina Office of Rural Health (SCORH) honored six rural healthcare providers and community members at its 27th Annual Rural Health Conference in Greenville, SC. Each year, SCORH recognizes those in our rural communities who have shown excellence in their work to make their communities healthier, either through direct healthcare delivery, or efforts to make their communities stronger and more resilient.

Each of the following honorees received a laser-cut shadowbox of the Palmetto State, crafted by Sumter artisan Jenine Mitchell of The Thirsty Crafter (awardees pictured above, left to right).

  • Power of Rural Award: Digital Economy Ecosystem (SCRIN)
  • Rural Health Provider of the Year: Prisma Health Pediatrics – Powdersville
  • Award of Excellence: Dave Hamill, CEO, Hampton Regional Medical Center
  • Pioneer Award: Dr. Ralph Riley, Family Healthcare Practitioner
