Our commitment to South Carolina’s rural communities:
Encourage investment. Promote opportunities. Improve health.

The South Carolina Office of Rural Health (SCORH) is a non-profit organization with a mission to close the gap in health status and life expectancy between rural and urban communities in the Palmetto State. SCORH has been promoting investment, opportunity and health within rural communities since 1991.

Through a family of programs and resources, SCORH offers training, education and technical assistance to rural providers, advocates and communities. With 27 percent of our state’s residents living in rural areas, SCORH believes in preserving the unique character of rural communities without compromising their opportunities and access to critical services.

I am proud of the opportunity to now work directly with SCORH as a medical consultant to their innovative clinical practice transformation center. The rural communities, providers and residents in SC are very fortunate to have such a dynamic advocate and educational resource in SCORH.

SCORH was instrumental in Advanced Family Medicine becoming a Patient Centered Medical Home at the highest level! When we began our journey we had less than a year to submit our application and we were unsure if we could meet that deadline. Michele and her team, Sarah and Lindsay, stepped in and guided us to a score of 98. They guided us through every step and provided us with all the tools and resources need to achieve recognition.
